İstanbul'un Üsküdar ilçesi sınırları içinde Boğaziçi'nin Anadolu yakasında Vaniköy ile Beylerbeyi arasında bulunur ve eskiden yüksek gelirlilerin oturduğu en lüks ve pahalı semtlerinden biriydi. Osmanlı döneminde üst tabakanın akıl hastaları tedavi için bu semtte bulunan yalılara gönderilirdi.
