Place Royale is a historic square in the city centre of Nantes, France. Designed in 1786 by local architect Mathurin Crucy, it was constructed in 1790 after the demolition of the medieval ramparts. The square forms the centerpiece of a cohesive neoclassical architectural ensemble built for the occasion. At its heart is a monumental fountain, inaugurated in 1865. (Wikipedia)
