Harringay is a neighbourhood in North London located in (the differently spelled) Borough of Haringey to which the neighbourhood gave its name when the borough was created in 1965. No one can really explain why the authorities thought it was a good idea to use a different spelling.

Harringay is a district of north London, England, within the London Borough of Haringey. It is centred on the section of Green Lanes running between the New River, where it crosses Green Lanes by Finsbury Park, and Duckett's Common, near Turnpike Lane. (Wikipedia)
