Tapta (/tap-taa/) is a character in Meitei folklore of Ancient Manipur. It is a creature described by a mother's imagination to her child, to stop their cry. Etymologically, "Tapta" is made of two words, "Tap" and "Ta" in Meitei (Manipuri). (Wikipedia)
