Tras varios inicios y proyectos desde 1817 como estrategia de ensanche y apertura de plazas junto al Palacio Real, definitivamente se conforma en 1844. Consta de dos manzanas a cada lado del Teatro Real, y jardines en la zona interior. Supone un nuevo espacio de relación entre la Corona y la villa

The Plaza de Oriente is a square in the historic center of Madrid, Spain. Rectangular in shape and monumental in character, it was designed in 1844 by Narciso Pascual y Colomer. The square was propagated by King Joseph I, who ordered the demolition of the medieval houses on the site. (Wikipedia)
